I'm grateful for curator Tim Mendees and Eerie River Publishing for giving my story "Primordial" a home in the anthology From Beyond the Threshold, the perfect read during an Autumn's dusk.
The story has a campy 80's horror vibe with all the feels of an X-Files episode. Told in found footage format, Primordial is based on a sheriff who searches for her missing son, the lead singer of a local band called The Vandals. Goes full-on cosmic after that.
Folklore surrounding The Melonheads of Kirtland, Ohio provided the inspiration, along with heavy doses of the speculative and horror art I've consumed.
